Solutions. Not sound bites.

dst-debate-group-photo-IMG958960-croppedFirst, thank you to everyone who attended the recent Debate hosted by the Pompano Beach Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta. And, thank you to the ladies of DST for hosting the event. I must say, I had a blast! It was fun and it provided me an opportunity to share my vision for District 4 as well as to hear from my opponents and other candidates running in other districts. Suffice it say, some people are still more interested in promoting what sounds good versus providing practical solutions to our problems. The real issues in this race are centered around helping people. We must do our best to foster job creation within our business community and through our city’s redevelopment projects. We must work toward providing workforce training opportunities for our people. We must provide incentives to help grow our local businesses. And, we must expand our collaboration efforts with our non-profit organizations to help meet these and many other needs in our community, including improved and expanded senior services and after-school resources for our youth. Aside from making our CRA the hot topic and promoting false information, my opponents want us to believe they’re the best choice because they’ve been here longer and they’ve attended every school in the District 4 boundary. As my father would say, “whoop-de-do!” We need a clear vision of how to move our District and city forward and my plan for District 4 does that.

wrawls-IMG_6671-croppedThe District 4 Plan: Innovative Leadership

The District 4 plan provides innovative leadership and not just “outside the box” thinking. It’s common sense thinking that keeps the well-being and success of all people at its core. It’s not predicated on sound bites that make people feel good for a moment. It’s foundation is in making people better, giving them opportunity, equal access, and inclusion. This includes working towards creating laws that aide in keeping our tax dollars in our community. it includes building relationships that will foster an environment of mutual respect, genuine collaboration and edification. That’s where I stand, not on the sound bites but on the promise that I will work hard with our community to provide real solutions to fix our problems.
